PM (Project Management)
Project management (PM) is a type of construction management consulting. It is a process of coordinating and managing related parties in terms of cost, schedule, quality, and information at each stage of a project, including conceptualization, planning, design, procurement, construction, and delivery.
While construction management (CM) focuses on the technical aspects of design and construction from the planning and design stages, project management (PM) is characterized by its ability to comprehensively coordinate and manage the entire project from the upstream stages of conceptualization and planning. This is a characteristic of PM.
Traditionally in Japan, PM services for construction projects have been carried out by the client or designer.
However, in recent years, with the increasing demand for transparency and accountability of projects, companies specializing in management services such as project management (PM) and construction management (CM) have been established to provide PM services on behalf of the client, completely independent of the designer or contractor. The number of projects adopting the PM (project management) method is increasing.
